Colorado meets New Orleans at Il Mercato Wedding

Peter and his Colorado family joined Claire and her classically New Orleans family for festivities on the weekend of Nov. 23, 2024.

I was lucky enough to get to attend the rehearsal dinner, which was held near Eden Isles at Claire’s family getaway spot. About a billion people came up to speak some words about Peter and Claire, each one highlighting a lovely story that connecting the two. I came away from the evening having a much deeper appreciation for the connection they had.

The wedding day kicked off with Claire getting ready at an intimately familiar place, her childhood home, relaxing by the pool while girls got their makeup finished. She got dressed in a little bedroom on top of their studio in the backyard, with a lovely nook that had lovely light pouring in. Peter and the boys got ready at Hotel Saint Vincent.

The ceremony was held at the breathtaking St. Mary’s Assumption Church, which, much to my delight, has some of the widest aisles and highest ceilings in the city. After exchanging vows and their first kiss, Peter and Claire guided their guests to Il Mercato with the help of Free Agents Brass Band. These two *brought it*, with lots of hopping and skipping the whole way there.

Ana Belsome Events and Distressed Rentals & Revival had the reception space ready to go after the second line, with some comfy couches and beautiful floral arrangements in the courtyard that gave guests plenty of room to stretch out and reconnect. Inside, Three Thirty Seven was killing it on the floor, even letting Peter and Claire jump up to the stage for a song to rile the couple up.

Particularly impressive was Claire’s grandmother, who in her nineties was on her feet singing and dancing with several generations of family. She may have had more energy than all of us!

They capped the night with an exit with pom poms thrashing around them, and a big kiss to send everyone off.
